Description
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a highly motivated and professional team player to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources/Health & Safety Coordinator.
General Responsibilities: The Human Resources/Health & Safety Coordinator provides strategic advice, problem resolution, and coordination of a range of Human Resources matters that requires ingenuity and tactical decision-making within prescribed policy parameters. This position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the municipality’s health, safety and wellness program and provides assistance in the areas of recruitment, benefits and pension, claims management, coordination of the wellness program and supports the maintenance of human resources and employee files.
Qualifications:
• Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline or significant experience in a related role;
• Must have or be working towards a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation;
• Joint Health and Safety Committee certification - part 1 and 2;
• Thorough working knowledge of applicable legislation, including but not limited to: Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code;
• Proven experience in policy and forms development and record and information management systems maintenance;
• Knowledge of multiple human resources management principles and best practices including, but not limited to: health and safety, recruitment, claims management and labour and employee relations;
• Ability to act independently and effectively plan, coordinate, prioritize and execute tasks in a fast moving environment;
• Highly self-motivated and able to apply original and independent thinking in developing improved methods, procedures or techniques to adjust or improve processes;
• Excellent written and oral communication, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and time management skills;
• Proven ability to multi-task; work under tight deadlines; sound judgement and attention to detail;
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy, confidentiality, discretion, sound judgement and provide guidance and advice to management and staff;
• Team oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative team environment;
• Proficient in the use of technology and various software applications in a Windows based environment;
• Ability to provide an appropriate criminal records check upon hire;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s license in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business;
• Ability to provide an acceptable drivers’ abstract and criminal records check upon hire.
