Description
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a creative, energetic and self-motivated team player to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Camp Counsellor during March Break.
General Responsibilities: Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Camp Counsellors will work as part of a team who are responsible for the creation, implementation and delivery of programs to campers 5 to 12 years of age. Camp Counsellors will engage with the campers in a variety of recreation programs by maintaining staff to camper ratios ensuring safety. The successful candidate(s) will be required to communicate effectively with campers, parents the community and town staff.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age 16
- High School diploma, with previous leadership training considered an asset;
- Previous related job experience working with children 0 to 12 years of age;
- Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including Hi Five, considered an asset;
- Experience facilitating children’s activities, such as: sports, drama/crafts and musical programs, events and tournaments considered an asset;
- Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills required;
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service and promote town of Wasaga beach recreation programs;
- Effective problem solving skills required;
- General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ensure safety protocols are followed and maintain a safe environment for campers;
- A current, acceptable Criminal Reference Record – Vulnerable Sector and CPR/AED are required;
- Standard First Aid certification required or willing to obtain;
- Ability to lead, work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team;
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions.
