Description
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a self-motivated team player to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Payroll & Human Resources Representative.
General Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Director of HR, this role will be responsible for ensuring the full suite of payroll, benefits and HR administration in accordance with established policies, collective agreements and legislated requirements. Duties include HR communications and documentation; remittances submitted to Treasury for payment; data entry to the payroll and human resources system; verification of pay rate calculations and deductions within the approved budget; monitoring leaves of absences, overtime, sick and vacation time and reporting of time to management and Treasury for accrual purposes; and maintaining personnel records.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Payroll, HR, Accounting or Business related program or significant, related experience in absence of education;
- Thorough working knowledge of general accounting principles, provincial and federal legislation as it relates to compensation administration, reporting/remittance requirements, deductions, taxable benefits and other payroll practices;
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills;
- Good attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
- Strong proven computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word and PowerPoint) and financial applications;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills to reconcile and analyze payroll variances and discrepancies and provide detailed reporting & analytics;
- Experience with HRIS and Diamond software an asset;
- Excellent written communication skills to prepare e-mails/correspondence;
- Strong sense of urgency, accountability, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Experience working with compensation from a design, implementation, administration, governance & compliance perspective considered an asset;
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, administrative, organizational, communication, analytical, time management, and records management skills.
- Ability to exercise appropriate discretion in the recognition of confidential/sensitive information;
- Ability to provide a current, valid drivers’ license, and an acceptable and current Criminal Records Check and drivers’ abstract;
- Ability to contribute to a team dynamic in a positive manner.
