Description
The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional to join our team in the role of Project Engineer / Project Engineering Technologist.
General Responsibilities: Manage/coordinate and implement all aspects of the Town’s Consolidated Linear Infrastructure Environmental Compliance Approval (CLI-ECA), review and comment on proposed developments and Capital Works projects, respond to enquiries, develop, review and recommend policies and procedures, by-laws, perform site inspections, coordinate public utilities installations, conduct site reviews during development and/or capital works construction, attend meetings as required and provide engineering analysis, as well as assist with keeping the Town’s Asset Management inventory up-to-date. The emphasis of this position will be the management of the Town’s CLI-ECA requirements, as well as review and acceptance of development and capital works related submissions.
This position also requires duties as the Town’s Risk Management Inspector (RMI) and Alternative Risk Manager Official (RMO), under the Clean Water Act to review and ensure compliance with Risk Management Plans for applicable properties within the Municipality, including inspection of sites, annual report and aiding the RMO as required in their role
Qualifications:
- Degree/diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline;
- Possession of an Engineering designation (e.g. P.Eng. or CET);
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to deal independently, courteously and professionally in any situation and work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team;
- Ability to effectively provide coaching / mentoring of staff within the Engineering Division of Public Works.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Driver’s Licence in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business;
- Detailed knowledge of municipal infrastructure design, construction and contract administration, plans review, subdivision development, storm water management and lot grading;
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications, AutoCAD software, construction survey instruments and techniques, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, relevant legislation/guidelines/policies and procedures;
- Experience with WaterCAD software for water distribution system modelling and analysis would be considered an asset;
- Knowledge of basic principles of land use planning;
- Ability to provide an acceptable, current criminal records check.
